Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Hello HTS Community

Yes, you read it right, we’re making Fries today. And trust me once you’ve had sweet potato fries, you would prefer them over the fried potato cousins. They are nutritious, rich in fibre and antioxidants, sweet-salty and baked to keep the cholesterol levels in control.

Within few steps and even fewer ingredients, you can make this amazing snack item. I am using white sweet potatoes that are easily available in India, but you can use the red ones as well. Infact, red sweet potatoes are rich in beta-carotenes. Some important tips to make these fries crispy.

  • Slice them thinly about 1/4 inch. You can see some of mine are thicker and they did not crisp up in the set time
  • Sprinkle cornstarch for that crispy texture
  • Space them out evenly on the baking tray. If they are too crowded, they will be soggy.
  • Bake them at precisely 200 degree celsius. Less temperature will make them soggy, and anything more will probably burn them. Flip the fries once in halftime.
  • Do not season fries in the start, except for salt. Any additional spices should be added at the end, else they will burn.
