Hello HTS Community
Let’s start Diwali festivities with sweets, something that we all love and cherish, the mighty Laddu. So, to keep things towards the healthier side, I decided to make these no sugar, no jaggery, dry fruit laddus, and since they are amazing, I think you should also make them.
This is the laddu you want to eat when you’re Hungry, Tired and Sleepy. One laddu will make you full, it is quick to eat and then sleep away.
There is no particular set of ingredients that you should use, just grab whatever dry fruits you have, along with some seeds, roast them, mix them with dates and that’s it. In less than 1 hour, you will have amazing plate of laddus. And they are a great homemade gift as well.

These laddus are vegan and can be shaped into bars to be eaten as a healthy breakfast bar and snack. Dry fruit laddus are a powerhouse of nutrients, and are best consumed during breakfast with a glass of milk. Indian festivals revolve around food and there are generally a lot of sweets prepared in homes. From treating out guests with the seasons first Gajar ka halwa to presenting a bowl of prasad ki kheer, everything makes Diwali special.
In this recipe, I am using multiple ingredients, all that were available in my pantry. You can choose to skip or replace some of them. Does not matter if you do not have seeds or dried figs at home, simply skip them from the recipe. The laddus will still turn out to be amazing. Additionally, I have garnished them with a layer of rose petals and desiccated coconut, which is also completely optional.

Ingredients for Dry fruit laddu
- Ghee- 1 tablespoon (substitute with coconut oil for vegan)
- Dates- 1 cup, deseeded
- Dried figs- 2-3
- Almonds- 1/4 cup
- Cashews- 1/4 cup
- Pistachio- 1/4 cup
- Melon seeds- 2 teaspoon
- Pumpkin seeds- 1 tablespoon
- Sunflower seeds- 1 teaspoon
- Khus khus (Poppy seeds)- 2 teaspoon
- Desiccated coconut- 3 teaspoon
- Cardamon powder- 1 teaspoon
- Dried rose petals- for garnish, optional
- Desiccated coconut- for garnish, optional
Steps:
- Blend de-seeded dates in a mixer jar for 5-6 pulses and keep aside.
- In a pan, heat ghee/coconut oil and roast chopped almonds, cashew, pistachio until lightly aromatic. Make sure to chop dry fruits and not blend them in a mixer jar, they should have a bite to them.
- Next add pumpkin, melon and sunflower seeds while the heat is super low. They will immediately start to pop. Remove the pan from heat if required. Mix everything well.
- Add chopped figs, followed by poppy seeds (khus khus), desiccated coconut and cardamom powder. Switch off the flame completely and transfer contents in a plate.
- In the same pan, add blended dates and cook on low heat for a couple of minutes. If they are not easy to mix, add a teaspoon or two of water and then cook.
- To this add the dry fruit mixture, combine everything and switch off the heat. Transfer contents to a plate and let it come to room temperature.
- Take about 1 tablespoon of mixture in hand and roll into a ball/laddu. If you are up for a garnish, either roll it in dry rose petals or desiccated coconut. Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to a week.
