Not so difficult Cinnamon Rolls

Hello HTS Community

Do you love freshly baked cinnamon rolls, but too afraid to give them a try? Well, welcome to the club. But this recipe changed everything for me. These cinnamon rolls are special and are easily attainable. Let’s follow this recipe and prove that these are as easy as they can get.

I referred to Joshua Weissman’s Cinnabon recipe, and made adjustments to make a small batch. The crispy outer layer, and layers of cinnamon sugar, topped with a creamy glaze, can make anybody’s day.

Prep time: 30 minutesCooking time: 30 minutesResting Time: 3 hoursTotal time: 4 hours

Ingredients you will need:

For the Dough

  • All purpose flour- 2 cups
  • Sugar- 1/4 cup
  • Salt- 1/3 teaspoon
  • Unsalted butter- 2+1/2 tablespoon
  • Milk- 1/2 cup, lukewarm
  • Instant yeast- 1 teaspoon
  • Egg- 1

For the Filling

  • Brown sugar- 1/2 cup
  • Cinnamon powder- 1+1/4 tablespoon
  • Unsalted butter- 2+1/2 tablespoon, softened

For Cream Cheese Glaze

  • Cream cheese- 50gm
  • Powdered sugar- 1/3 cup
  • Vanilla extract- 1 teaspoon
  • Milk- 2 tablespoon

Steps:

  • To make the dough, start with a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon sugar with lukewarm milk, and then add yeast to it. Let it bloom for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine flour, salt, rest of the sugar and butter. To this, add the bloomed milk-yeast and a whole egg, to make a soft dough. Use a tablespoon of flour if required. You can also dump the dough on a work surface to kneed and make a tight ball.
  • Grease the bowl, transfer dough in it and cover with a damp towel. Let it rise for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough and transfer to a lightly floured work surface. Roll into a rectangle about 1/2 cm thick, 12*8 inches in measurements.
  • Spread softened butter on the rolled dough, to cover it completely. Make sure to create an even layer.
  • For the filling, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon powder, to make your cinnamon sugar, and sprinkle it on top of the butter. Use all of it and cover the entire rolled dough.
  • Tightly roll from the bottom all the way to the top, and cut the log in 2.5 inch pieces. I made light marks on the log before cutting them.
  • Grease a muffin tin or a 8 inch round cake pan, and place these rolls, cover with damp towel and let them sit for 45 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven at 180 degree Celsius, and bake these darlings for 30 minutes. Rotate the baking tray once after half time for even cooking and browning. Let cool in the tray for 15 minutes.
  • In the meanwhile, let’s make the cream cheese glaze. Whisk together cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla and milk to create a smooth glaze. Drizzle it on top of cinnamon rolls and serve.
